Preview: California Cup 2025

For the third time ever, NorCal Premier Soccer and SOCAL Soccer League have joined forces to host the California Cup, a competition pitting the best U9-U12 teams in the state against each other, with the 2025 edition set to kick off this weekend at Davis Legacy Soccer Complex.

On Saturday and Sunday, the two finalists from both NorCal and SOCAL’s State Cups will meet in a group stage competition with the two highest point earners then playing each other in a final to determine California’s true state champion.

“This is a one of a kind event that features the powers of Northern California against the best teams from Southern California,” said NorCal State Cup Coordinator Brian Voltattorni. “It’s such a unique event because of the cooperation between two top associations, which doesn’t happen anywhere else in the country.”

Given that it’s an odd numbered year, NorCal Premier Soccer is again hosting, with even numbered years taking place in Southern California.

On Saturday, each side from NorCal will take on the two finalists from SOCAL, while all of the SOCAL sides will play NorCal’s two finalists.

Then, the result from both NorCal and SOCAL’s State Cup finals earlier in the season will be used as the third group stage game, setting up matches the following day between the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in the bracket as well as a matchup featuring No. 3 and No. 4.
