| One of the strongest teams in any division, Santa Clara Sporting are just one game away from doing the double after collecting the NPL Champions League title earlier this season with a 7-0-0 record. Still, Sporting have been put to the test in the knockout rounds of the competition, coming up with one-goal victories in both the round of 16 and the semifinals. Meanwhile, Marin FC gave Santa Clara Sporting one of their toughest games in the NPL season, barely falling via a 2-1 scoreline all the way back in March.
