U15-U19 State Cup Finals Preview

This weekend NorCal Premier Soccer’s competitive play concludes for the 2025/26 season as the U15-U19 State Cup finals are scheduled to kick off Saturday and Sunday at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento.

Forty-one different divisions are up for grabs over the course of the two days in which most teams will officially end their campaigns before heading off to summer break.

“Finals Weekend for the older age groups of State Cup play is always one of the highlights of each team’s season,” said NorCal State Cup Coordinator Brian Voltattorni. “There are always tons of games, featuring plenty of drama, that go down to the wire. Ultimately only one team can remain in each age group in what will become a memory that each team will cherish forever.”

Each of the 82 finalists will be recognized on stage following the matches, with roughly eight teams honored at a time in a special ceremony.

In the State Division, NorCal’s highest level of play, just 16 teams remain with the winner of each division earning the opportunity to call themselves NorCal’s true State Cup champions as well as a berth in July’s US Club Soccer National Cup, set to take place in Denver.

Overall, 14 clubs will be represented in the State Division finals, with Bay Area Surf and Reno APEX leading the way with two teams each.

Additionally, Clovis Crossfire, Elk Grove United, IR Academy, Monterey Surf, Mustang SC, Pleasanton RAGE, Revolution FC, Richmond Sol, SF Aftershocks, South Valley Chivas, Union Sacramento, and Walnut Creek Surf each have one team in a final.

The U15-U19 NorCal State Cup began all the way back in August with each team playing three group stage matches against similarly skilled opposition.

From there, teams were seeded into knockout round brackets based on how they did in the group stage.

For those who have put together a run to make it to Finals Weekend, most had to win four separate elimination rounds, with the last two coming at NorCal-hosted dates in which all teams from all divisions played.

“Even just making it to the final is an incredible accomplishment,” Voltattorni said. “Each of these teams should be proud of themselves and we’re happy to celebrate them all this weekend as they finish out their long campaigns.”
