U13/U14 State Cup Champions Crowned

Last Sunday at Davis Legacy Soccer Complex, 30 different division champions were crowned in the U13 and U14 NorCal Premier Soccer State Cup as teams from all across Northern California battled to determine who would lift silverware in their respective levels of play.
It was the culmination of a season-long campaign that began all the way back in August, and which required every team who even qualified for Finals Weekend to win multiple knockout round matches on the way.

“It was an incredibly positive weekend full of great soccer as teams from our youngest 11v11 age groups made memories that they will cherish for a lifetime,” said NorCal State Cup Coordinator Brian Voltattorni. “It’s important that everyone who was involved with the weekend was able to take in the moments provided to simply enjoy the game.”
In the State Division, NorCal’s top level of play, four different clubs proved victorious, with Bay Area Surf (14 Boys), CV Futbol Academy (U13 Boys), Modesto Ajax United (14 Girls), and Rocklin FC (U13 Girls) all taking home titles.
Those four clubs earned both the right to call themselves NorCal’s true State Champion, and a berth in this summer’s US Club Soccer National Cup, set to take place this July in Denver.

The NorCal State Cup kicked off in August with three group stage matches before each participating team was placed in a knockout round bracket based on how they finished in their first three games.
From there, most teams had to win four consecutive matches in February and March to reach Finals Weekend this past Sunday.

“To even reach Finals Weekend is a massive achievement for each team, regardless of the level of play,” Voltattorni said. “Each team that made it to the final match in Davis showed skill, grit, and a huge passion for the game we all know and love.”
Though the U13 and U14 divisions are now in the books, there’s still more State Cup action to be played as the U15-U19 age groups completed the quarterfinal round this past weekend as well.
Those who ended up on the winning side either Saturday or Sunday will now play semifinal matches on May 9 before Finals Weekend takes place on May 30 and 31 at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento.
