Three NorCal Teams Take Home California Cup Titles
The third-ever California Cup, a competition pitting the top U9-U12 sides from NorCal Premier Soccer and SOCAL Soccer League against each other, took place this past weekend at Davis Legacy Soccer Complex with four sides from each division fighting against each other to determine a true State champion.
Each age group featured four teams, the two State Cup finalists from both NorCal and SOCAL, and began with a group stage before culminating with a championship match and a consolation game.
Overall, the results were split fairly evenly between the two organizations, with five SOCAL teams taking home titles, while three from NorCal lifted the trophy.
“In addition to being a celebration of soccer, the California Cup is a unique event that allows for greater cooperation between our State’s two biggest youth soccer organizations: NorCal Premier Soccer and SOCAL Soccer League,” said NorCal State Cup Coordinator Brian Voltattorni. “This was a great opportunity for 7v7 and 9v9 teams to test themselves against the highest competition possible while also creating unforgettable memories.”
For NorCal, CV Futbol Academy (U12 Boys), Mustang SC (U11 Girls), and San Juan SC (U12 Girls) all claimed titles, while the standouts for SOCAL were SoCal Blues and Total Futbol Academy, who each won two California championships. Strikers FC also took home a trophy back to Southern California.
The California Cup will return to Northern California in 2027, with NorCal Premier set to host the event in odd-numbered years, while next year, SOCAL Soccer League will put on the event.
