Symposium Clinician Profile: Vincenzo Vergine

Note: This is the second in a five part series highlighting the clinicians who will present at this summer’s NorCal Premier Soccer Coaching Symposium. Coaches can sign up for the event, which takes place June 7-9 at the Oakland Roots training facility, by clicking here.

With a world famous youth academy that has produced players such as Franco Baresi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Paolo Maldini, AC Milan has long stood as both one of the top clubs in the world as well as one of the top producers of talent in the world.

For these reasons, NorCal Premier Soccer is pleased to introduce Professor Vincenzo Vergine, the current AC Milan Youth Director, who will serve as one of the clinicians for this summer’s Coaching Symposium.

In his career, Vergine has served mostly at the highest level in Italy, holding the same position he holds now at ACF Fiorentina for 13 years, before transitioning to Roma for four years, where his youth sides won six different titles during his tenure.

With degrees in sports science and sociology, the Professor has long been at the forefront of development in both the physical and psychosocial aspects.

“This summer’s symposium is very important for me because I believe that these connections and partnerships for the future are imperative,” Vergine said. “At AC Milan, we have 55 million fans in the US so for me the technical objective at the symposium is important but it’s also important to make these connections with American (coaches, players, and fans).”

This won’t be Vergine’s first time working with NorCal–the organization previously had a formal partnership with Fiorentina that saw Vergine lead discussions and lessons every few years in Northern California, the first time coming all the way back in 2008.
