While league play still has a few matchdays left, for the U13 and U14 teams playing in the NorCal Premier Soccer State Cup, this is the last weekend of play. Finals Weekend is upon us as 30 different divisions are up for grabs this Sunday at Davis Legacy Soccer Complex.
Here are your games of the week:
| U14 Boys State Cup Final |
| 4/26 | Bay Area Surf | | 9:50 a.m. @ Davis Legacy Field #4 | | FC Fresno |
| Bay Area Surf have been absolutely clinical in front of goal in the knockout stages of State Cup this year, putting the ball in the back of the net 14 times so far while only failing to defeat their opponents by at least two goals once. While they've allowed seven goals in the process, Surf will be tough to defeat thanks to their scoring prowess. Meanwhile, their opponents in FC Fresno had to play one fewer elimination round and nearly were knocked out in the quarterfinals after a wild 11-10 penalty shootout victory, but have scored an equally impressive 11 goals in three knockout games. |
| U13 Girls State Cup Final |
| 4/26 | San Juan SC | | 11:40 a.m. @ Davis Legacy Field #4 | | Rocklin FC |
| A stingy defense has helped San Juan SC to reach this stage of the competition--they have yet to allow a goal in three knockout round games while scoring five times themselves. However, San Juan's record is equaled by that of Rocklin FC, who have also not allowed their opponents to hit the back of the net. Rocklin have done slightly better in front of the net, though, scoring six times. With two stout defenses, this match could be decided by a single strike, or even penalties. |
| U13 Boys State Cup Final |
| 4/26 | Folsom Lake Surf | | 1:30 p.m. @ Davis Legacy Field #4 | | CV Futbol Academy |
| After opening knockout round play in the round of 16 with an emphatic 6-0 win, Folsom Lake Surf were tested in both the quarterfinals and semifinals. In each match, they scored three goals, but they narrowly edged Clovis Crossfire 3-2 in the quarterfinals before seeing out a 3-1 win against Mt. Diablo Mustang in the semifinals. On the other side of the bracket, CV Futbol Academy had to start play in the round of 32, but won their first two matchups by a combined 15 goals. From there, they defeated Stockton TLJ in a wild 5-3 game before securing their spot in the final with a 3-0 victory over FC Fresno. |
| U14 Girls State Cup Final |
| 4/26 | Reno APEX | | 3:20 p.m. @ Davis Legacy Field #4 | | Modesto Ajax United |
| Both Reno APEX and Modesto Ajax United have had to absolutely grind out results to make it to this stage of the competition--neither side has won a knockout round game by more than two goals and both teams advanced once via penalty kick shootout. Furthermore, both teams have scored five goals in the knockout rounds, however Modesto have allowed one fewer goal. Expect this match to go down to the wire. |
