NorCal Matchday #2

NorCal Premier Soccer’s inaugural League Cup returns this weekend as teams from all across the state will meet at Placer Valley Soccer Complex in Roseville to contest the final group stage matches followed by the quarterfinals. Several spots in the knockout rounds are up for grabs still as teams from the ECNL RL, NPL, ECNL, and MLS Next battle against each other in this new interleague competition.

| Back when the League Cup debuted in mid August, FC Fresno Academy had one of the best weekends of any club in any age group of the competition. The Central Valley side posted two wins in two matches, scoring an astonishing 19 goals in the process. Just a draw will win the group for Fresno, who face Albany Berkeley Soccer Club. The latter also had an impressive two days, picking up four points without allowing a single goal. A win will propel ABSC to first place in the group. | |||||

| 3/7 | SF United FC | ![]() | ECFC Salinas | ||
| Both SF United FC and ECFC Salinas have been perfect so far in League Cup play, with the pair each picking up two victories back in August. ECFC come in with the slight advantage thanks to a goal differential that's one better than SF's. The Salinas-based side have put the ball in the back of the net seven times in two games, while SF United have yet to allow a goal in the competition. | |||||

| 3/7 | Santa Rosa United | Silicon Valley Eagles | |||
| Bracket B of the U19 Boys League Cup is one of the few where teams have completed all of their matches, meaning that Santa Rosa United and Silicon Valley Eagles both know exactly what they need to do in order to secure a guaranteed spot in the knockout phases. Santa Rosa United currently sit atop the table thanks to two wins from two games and will need just a draw to ensure they secure the top spot. Meanwhile, Silicon Valley Eagles are currently in third place with three points, but a win against Santa Rosa would propel them to the top of the table thanks to the head-to-head tiebreaker. | |||||
