NPL Match Day #6

While many Matchday #6 games were cancelled due to the air quality in Northern California — and if you can, we encourage you to give to our fundraiser to help those impacted by these terrible situations — there were still games for those able to play. For those that did play, it was another exciting round of games as teams looked to solidify their Champions League aspirations.

U15 GIRLS NPL 1 EAST

CCSA Black 2 – Ajax United Green 1

CCSA Goals: Hernandez, Rich
Ajax Goal: Cisneros

Thanks to a late goal from Andria Hernandez, CCSA Black grabbed a 2-1 win over Ajax United, giving them the crucial head-to-head tiebreaker and putting CCSA (3-0-1) alone at the top of the table. Central California initially took the lead in just the eighth minute through an unassisted strike from Emily Rich, but Ajax United (3-1-1) battled back with a 25th minute goal from Evelyn Cisneros. Both goalkeepers also played well, with CCSA’s Sydney Hancock and Ajax’s Mya Sanchez registering four saves a piece.

U15 BOYS NPL 1 EAST

Ceres Earthquake 3 – Turlock Tornados 3

Turlock Goals: McDonald 2, Valenzuela 1
Ceres Goals:

In yet another barnburner of a game, late goals from both sides made it so that a winner couldn’t be decided between Ceres Earthquake (2-2-1) and the Turlock Tornados (2-0-4) this past weekend. Kaleb McDonald thought he’d won the game for the Tornados via a 74th minute strike, only for Ceres to come back and draw the game four minutes later. It was McDonald’s second goal of the game at that point, to go with a strike from Elvis Valenzuela. But ultimately, the pair’s influence up top was not enough to see Turlock garner all three points.
