Game of the Week: Fresno Fuego vs. Phoenix Rising FC
When: Wednesday May 17, 7:00 p.m.
Where: Fresno State Soccer Field
Competition: U.S. Open Cup
Additional Info: After an opportunistic first round Open Cup win against La Maquina, the Fresno Fuego play host to Phoenix Rising FC of the USL. For fans of the international game, this represents an excellent opportunity as the Phoenix Rising roster includes former World Cup players in Didier Drogba, Omar Bravo, and Shaun Wright-Phillips. The winner of this match will move onto the next round of the tournament and face the winner of the San Francisco Deltas and Burlingame Dragons. Tickets are available here.
Game of the Week: San Francisco Deltas vs. Burlingame Dragons FC
When: Wednesday May 17, 7:00 p.m.
Where: Cagan Stadium at Stanford University
Competition: U.S. Open Cup
Additional Info: After an opportunistic win on penalties against former Open Cup champion El Farolito, the Burlingame Dragons will participate in their second straight NorCal derby against NASL side San Francisco Deltas. For the Deltas, it’s their first-ever Open Cup game, and the first time they will play a competitive match outside of their normal home venue, Kezar Stadium. Tickets are available here.
Game of the Week: Sacramento Republic FC vs. Anahuac FC
When: Saturday May 17, 7:30 p.m.
Where: Papa Murphy’s Park, Sacramento
Competition: U.S. Open Cup
Additional Info: Currently in the midst of a 563 minute scoreless streak, Sacramento Republic FC’s first Open Cup game of the year represents an excellent opportunity to find the back of the net, as the Republic take on amateur side Anahuac FC. Not much is known about the Las Vegas-based club, but they did well last week to knock off the Sonoma County Sol on kicks from the mark. Tickets are available here.
