About the Clinician:
Paul is currently working as a physical performance coach at Canadian MLS club, CF Montreal. Before moving over to North America in February he held multiple roles at three Yorkshire-based clubs in his native England (Barnsley, Huddersfield Town, and Leeds United). With nearly 15 years experience, Paul has worked within multiple leadership roles spanning academy, men’s youth international, and senior football (mainly within the Championship).
Alongside Paul’s applied work, he is also studying for a Professional Doctorate in Sport at Leeds Beckett University. His current research has a three-point focus: (1) current training periodization methods utilized within the English league pyramid; (2) barriers to effective planning and periodization strategies for performance leads; and (3) gaining internationally agreed consensus around best-practice training periodization techniques.
Course Content:
Each course will cover the following topics:
- Injury Prevention – effectively planning and delivering a safe, progressive strength program with no equipment.
- Planning – how to organize the season into specific periods to enable continuous development of athletes (based on club game models).
- In season periodization – how to sequence training based on the competition schedule (aligned with the club plan).
Cost:
This course is fully sponsored by NorCal and is FREE. However, anyone who registers and does not show up will be charged a $200 no-show fee (the course value).
Space: Due to the interactive nature of the course, course capacity is 25 for each location.
