23 Teams Take Home Futsal State Cup Titles

After three days of exciting action at the Cal Expo Fairgrounds in Sacramento, the 2026 NorCal Futsal State Cup is now in the books, with 23 different teams taking home titles.

More than 200 teams participated in the event, with most of the U9-U15 age groups divided into two different divisions based on performance level.

That number brought NorCal’s 2026 futsal participation up to nearly 700 teams in the first two months of the year.

“This past weekend was fantastic,” said NorCal Futsal State Cup Coordinator Kelcey Chaidez. “The enthusiasm was amazing and the level of play is only improving as we continue to expand our futsal programming in order to help the development of the sport in Northern California.”

“The facilities were absolutely packed with players, families, and coaches all supporting their kids throughout the weekend,” Chaidez added. “We couldn’t have asked for a better atmosphere at the fourth edition of our Futsal State Cup.”

Overall, 14 different teams were crowned champions of the State Division, the top level of play NorCal Premier Soccer has to offer.

Bay Area Surf led the way, taking home four of those titles, while MVLA East also lifted two trophies.

Other clubs taking home hardware were 1974 Newark FC, De Anza Force, Folsom Lake Surf, Girls Unite, Marin FC, SF Elite, Stanislaus United, and Yuba City Elite.

“It was great to see all the players competing this weekend,” Chaidez said. “The success of this event will only push us to continue to expand our futsal programming.”

For the past five years, NorCal has begun implementing futsal into its programming, giving kids more opportunities to improve over the winter months when outdoor fields aren’t always available due to scheduling conflicts and harsh weather.

The goal is to eventually have most, if not all, teams participate in a full season of futsal during those months. With the addition of several futsal specific playdates and the Futsal State Cup, several teams were able to build a three-month indoor season in which they played roughly 12 matches this year.
