2023 NorCal Boys Fall College Showcase Recap

More than 70 college coaches attended one of the largest and highest quality events of its type last weekend as NorCal Premier Soccer hosted the Boys Fall College Showcase at Davis Legacy Soccer Complex.

In front of those coaches, who were looking for their next star players, hundreds of competitive matches took place involving teams from NorCal’s ECNL-RL, NPL, and State Premier Championship, as well as some featuring squads from the ECNL and MLS Next. Several sides from SOCAL also took part in the competition.

Overall, college programs from 14 different states and three international countries visited the showcase to scout players from the U16-U19 age groups.

“The event went really well, this is our second year that we’ve been out here,” said University of Central Lancashire Head of International Recruiting Nathan Bibby. “Last year went really well, it was a good recruiting (group) for us. Being an international coach from the UK, everyone has been really welcoming to us.”

Added Cal Poly Humboldt Assistant Coach Brian Bianucci: “I love coming to this event, I’ve been doing it for years. Not only is the level really good with the NPL, ECNL, MLS Next, but NorCal does a great job accommodating coaches and making it really accessible for recruiting. I’ve been coming for years and I’ll definitely be coming back.”

In addition to the regular matches, in which each team involved played one on Saturday and one on Sunday, NorCal hosted an All-Star Game for the second straight year.

The rosters, which can be viewed here, were made up of a selection from the Bay Area, pitted against another group from the Central Valley. The Bay side continued their dominance over Valley, improving their record to 2-0 in All-Star Games with another victory.
