Coming into the weekend, this division was Palo Alto SC’s to lose as they had a six-point advantage with two games to play. Things got interesting after Clovis Crossfire closed the gap to three points going into Sunday after their 1-0 head-to-head victory over Palo Alto. On Sunday, Palo Alto were beaten soundly by Diablo FC, but Santa Clara Sporting provided assistance beating Clovis Crossfire 2-1, to clinch the NPL title for Palo Alto.

Though there are still a few games left to play, California Thorns locked up this division thanks to a pair of shutout wins over the weekend. The Thorns beat California Odyssey 3-0 and South Valley United 2-0 to claim their title.

Santa Cruz City Jaws
Needing just a point to claim the NPL 2 title, Santa Cruz City actually fell to the only side that could best it: then fourth-place Walnut Creek. But Santa Cruz rebounded on Sunday to claim a 1-0 victory over Placer United, while Walnut Creek fell to Palo Alto SC, meaning that Santa Cruz claimed the title.

Coming into the weekend tied atop the table, EBU Bay Oaks and Monarcas Academy faced off in a Sunday matchup after each winning Saturday. With the winner guaranteed the title, East Bay fired off a 1-0 victory to win the championship.
