U19 Boys State Quarterfinals Recap

U19 BOYS STATE QUARTERFINAL A
5/7CV SJ Gunners
1-0
Force
After Force finished on top of the CV San Jose Gunners for the NPL Champions League title, the Gunners came into this match with extra motivation. They eventually booked the winner in a tough match just 13 minutes from time, with Jose Valencia Silva proving to be the hero in his squad’s quest for silverware.
U19 BOYS STATE QUARTERFINAL B
5/7Milan FC
4-0
SC Sporting
The only one-sided match of the U19 division went to Milan FC Forza, who dominated Santa Clara Sporting from the start to the finish. Andres Velasquez scored the eventual winner in the 30th minute. After that, it was all gravy for Milan, who doubled their lead in the first half through Luis Brambila, before second half strikes from Roberto Mejia-Alberto and a second goal from Velasquez iced the match.
U19 BOYS STATE QUARTERFINAL C
5/7Folsom Force
3-2
SF Seals
In an unconventional game where the SF Seals ended with just nine men on the field, it seemed fitting that an outfield player wearing the unconventional No. 1 would provide the difference between the two sides. Tanner Boyea did the damage for Folsom, scoring a second half hat trick to cancel out Jean Birling’s first half goal for the Seals. Gabriel Faro-White bagged an impressive goal on a bicycle kick in the 83rd minute, but Boyea’s impressive performance, and the Seals numerical disadvantage proved too much to overcome.
U19 BOYS STATE QUARTERFINAL D
5/7Star Academy
2-2
(4-2)
Mustang
The final U19 Men’s match of the weekend wasn’t short on drama, as Star Academy won a close game over Mustang SC Barcelona via a penalty shootout after earlier trailing in the match. Mustang came out on top in the first half, scoring in the 26th minute before equalizing in the 78th minute after Star’s Brandon Ortega and Edgar Nunez Menera had made it 2-1 in between that pair of strikes.
