Palo Alto Blue 00
After both coming off impressive blowout wins in the Round of 16, Palo Alto SC bested the Folsom Lake Earthquakes 2-1 to take their place in the semifinals. U19 BOYS STATE QUARTERFINAL B
4/28Placer United NPL
0-3
SC Sporting 00/01
Facing one of the most decorated sides in Northern California, Placer United failed to live up to the challenge provided to them by Santa Clara Sporting as they fell 3-0 to exit the competition. Still, Placer kept it close until Angel Avalos Guzman broke the deadlock for Sporting in the 38th minute. Andrew Garcia doubled Santa Clara’s lead in the 62nd, before an absolute banger from Abel Flores ended all competitive aspects of the match in the 70th minute.
U19 BOYS STATE QUARTERFINAL C
4/28Atletico Santa Rosa
5-0
San Juan Blue
Just two weeks ago, San Juan SC bested Atletico Santa Rosa via a 3-2 scoreline in Champions League play, but their State Cup quarterfinal rematch could not have been more different. Atletico scored early and often, with Zachary Batchelder and Alan Sanchez each completing braces to go along with Alexis Diaz-Angeles goal that rounded out a clean 5-0 victory.
U19 BOYS STATE QUARTERFINAL D
4/28Palo Alto 01 Blue
2-3
Breakers CCFA
In one of the most intense matches of the weekend, 10-man Breakers FC fought off a valiant comeback effort from Palo Alto SC to earn a spot in the semifinals with a 3-2 victory. The Breakers originally got on the board through an own goal before the aptly-named Alexis Sanchez provided their second, only for Palo Alto’s Eric Tang to pull a goal back. Breakers then made it 3-1 through Arando Alvarez before Palo Alto’s Christopher Chen scored to make things interesting at the end.
