U17 Girls NorCal NPL Fall Showcase Preview

NPL 1 East

With three Champions League spots up for grabs and four teams with shots at grabbing them, the NPL 1 East is sure to go down to the last minute of the last game this weekend. Central California Soccer Alliance currently leads the table with 12 points, but has just one game remaining, a Sunday contest against the only eliminated side in the group: Union FC. Tied with CCSA on 12 points is California Odyssey, whose only two losses on the season came from Central California. Two other sides are in contention as well: the twin 10-point squads of Sacramento United and Ajax United, though the latter have played one more game.

NPL 1 West

While MVLA and Mustang SC have already secured Champions League berths thanks to twin 5-0-1 records, one thing is still up for grabs: the fall title. The two squads face Saturday in a matchup that will likely decide the winner of the division for sides that have combined for a plus-48 goal differential thus far. Elsewhere, 10-pointers Marin FC, Pleasanton Rage, and Diablo FC sit in the final three Champions League spots, but Vision (7 points) are still in the race for qualification.

NPL 2 North

In a division that has already been decided, 7-0-0 West Coast Soccer crushed through the opposition, earning a spring NPL 1 berth thanks to an attack that scored 34 goals and a defense that allowed just five. High-scoring Folsom Lake Earthquakes will join West Coast in the NPL 1 thanks to a 3-1-3 record, while Placer United and Walnut Creek each earned NPL 2 spots thanks to third and fourth-place finishes, respectively.

NPL 2 South

This division’s scenarios are surprisingly difficult for a group that contains just five teams, but one thing is for sure: Tahuichi could win the title without even playing on Saturday should San Bruno and SF United lose their matches. If San Bruno win or draw Saturday, Tahuichi will need to at least match the San Bruno result against SF United to ensure the division title. Meanwhile, the title is SF United’s if they simply win both of their matches on the weekend.
