While this one was predicted to be a shootout, the match between Santa Clara Sporting and Marin FC produced few chances, and even fewer quality chances.

Marin appeared ready to take the advantage in the 75th minute when a Sporting player was shown his second yellow card, but the numerical disadvantage only seemed to strengthen Santa Clara.

After 90 minutes of hard-fought action, the game became the first, and only, final to go to overtime, where the two sides traded blows for 20 minutes, but were ultimately unable to decide a winner.

So to kicks from the mark it went, and each side started well, scoring on their first shots.

But then it all went wrong for Santa Clara Sporting, who missed a penalty wide left, and then saw one saved by Marin goalkeeper Erik Portillo, who had also been instrumental in regular time in keeping Sporting off the board.
