U17 Boys NPL Spring Showcase: Recap

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

NPL Champions

Santa Clara Sporting

2nd Place

Galt FC

Two years after winning the NPL National Title, Santa Clara Sporting will have a chance to regain their status as the top team in the country this summer in Indiana. Coming into the weekend, needing just a win to top the division, Sporting claimed their title with an exclamation mark, defeating eventual third-place finishers Atletico Santa Rosa 5-0. Galt FC ended up in second place, besting Santa Rosa on a tiebreaker after losing 2-0 to the powerful Sporting side on Sunday.

NPL 1

With just three overall matches remaining, the U17 Boys NPL 1 division still has yet to be decided, even after eight high-scoring matches at the NPL College Showcase. Heritage SC currently stand in first place of the division with a 5-1-1 record, but are done playing games. Heritage can be overtaken by just one team: third-place Lamorinda SC, who will need to win both of their remaining games, and do so by at least a margin of four goals in order to take the title away from Heritage, who will win it otherwise.

NPL 2

A 3-1 win over Palo Alto and a 1-0 victory over Union Sacramento saw Ballistic United SC claim the U17 Boys NPL 2 title during the College Showcase, winning the division with a 5-2-0 record overall. There are still a few matches left to play, but only SF Elite (4-2-0) can unseat San Juan (4-1-0) for second place.

NPL 3

Tottenham Hotspur East Bay (3-2-2) may have a four-point lead in this division, but second-place Davis Legacy (2-2-1) has two games in hand. Normally, this would mean that the Legacy controlled their own destiny, but Both Impact SC (2-2-0), Star Academy (1-1-2), and Almaden FC (0-1-3) have three games in hand on East Bay. All five teams in this division remain in contention for the title.
