U15 Boys State Semifinals Recap

U15 BOYS STATE SEMIFINAL A
5/13Turlock Tornados
1-0
Napa SA
Despite attacking and throwing everything they had at Turlock Tornados for the entire 80 minutes, Napa Soccer Academy fell to a Turlock goal right before the half. Napa may have had the better of the play, creating chance after chance, but they were ultimately downed by some excellent Turlock defending and their inability to finish in the final third, sending Turlock through to the final.
U15 BOYS STATE SEMIFINAL B
5/13Lamorinda United
2-2
(5-4)
SC Sporting
One of the favorites to capture the overall title needed something a little special to overcome a tough Santa Clara Sporting side in the semifinal. In the end, it will be remembered as Luke Ahearn’s day, as the reserve field player stepped in goal late in the second half for Lamorinda United’s injured start. Not only did Ahearn save a penalty in regular time, but he stopped one in the shootout as well to give United a 5-4 penalty victory after a 2-2 draw in regular time. Lamorinda opened the scoring in just the 17th minute with a goal from Adrian Guzman. After Santa Clara equalized through Noah Robertson, Nikolas Geannacopolus scored for Lamorinda, before Joshua Frahm de la Piedra helped take the game to overtime with a 59th minute strike.
