In a vacuum, it can be hard to read too much into a 2-0 victory in a soccer game, and this was certainly the case for the Marin FC – Clovis Crossfire matchup, which was much closer of a game than the scoreline would indicate. While Marin’s Rebecca Sherry scored six minutes into the game with a clever toe poke, it was actually Clovis who had more chances in much of the game, only for Marin’s Mia Hamant to procure five saves to keep the shutout. While the Crossfire pressed for an equalizer, it was against the run of play that Marin scored their second, with Kaya Lash firing a free kick into the back of the net in the 59th minute to help cement the result for Marin.
