U11/U12 Gold, Silver, and Bronze State Cup Divisions To Conclude This Weekend

The U11 and U12 NorCal State Cup returns this weekend as sides still alive in the Gold, Silver, and Bronze divisions will meet at Finals Weekend at two different locations in Northern California.

In a competition that began all the way back in September, just four sides remain in most divisions, all of which will conclude Saturday and Sunday at Mary Grogan Community Park in Modesto and Robertson Park in Livermore.

“The teams that made it to this stage of the competition should all be proud of their accomplishments,” said U9-U12 State Cup Coordinator John Stoppelmann. “We’re expecting a fun and exciting weekend of soccer with great play from all the remaining sides.”

The NorCal State Cup began back in September with each team playing three group stage games against local competition before all advanced to a round of 32 game hosted by the higher seed in early November.

The winner of that game was placed into a higher bracket, while the losers still advanced to the round of 16, which was the first true elimination round.

Teams who have qualified for this weekend had to win round of 16 and quarterfinal matchups, which were each played at a neutral location.

Overall, more than 700 teams participated in the Gold, Silver, and Bronze divisions of State Cup, with just a few advancing to Finals Weekend.

At the end of the weekend–all finals will be played at Mary Grogan in Modesto–NorCal will have awarded championships to 50 different teams. The State and Premier Divisions won’t be decided until February.

A majority of the games will also be recorded by NorCal’s video partner, Veo. Once the recordings are uploaded, they will be sent out to team managers and coaches.

“This is one of the most fun weekends we have in the younger State Cup,” Stoppelmann said. “I know that everyone is looking forward to going out there and giving their best in a format that ensures that each team has as many competitive games as possible.”
