Three Join the NPL Ranks

One of the most prestigious designations that can be bestowed on a club competing in the various competitions provided by NorCal Premier Soccer is the status of becoming an NPL Club.

Each year only a few clubs meet the objective standards to become an NPL club, which is why NorCal Premier Soccer is excited to announce the latest three boys clubs to receive this honor: Barcelona Bay Area, Napa United 1839, and San Jose Surf.

The new clubs will begin with their new status this fall, assuming the regular resumption of competitions.

“Barcelona Bay Area is proud to be recognized as a boys NPL club. NPL is a proven national competition platform that will give our players the best opportunity to reach their full potential. We have consistently produced some of the highest quality players in the bay area and we continue to look for pathways that will help to develop our players for the next level,” said Paul Monteith of Barcelona Bay Area.

Added Napa United Head of Soccer Operations Gavin Taylor: “Napa United are very excited and proud to be announced as an NPL Club, there has been a tremendous amount of work at Napa United over the years to reach this point and we look forward to our next phase of development at this level. We have always strongly believed in the NorCal and NPL pathway as a competitive and well-structured soccer pathway.

“San Jose Surf has made great efforts in Norcal Premier competitions and we’re delighted we have now been rewarded with acceptance into the National Premier League structure,” said San Jose Surf President, Steve Lum. “We are committed as a club to finding the best competition platforms for our players and the NPL League will give our players the best opportunity to reach their full potential as we strive to develop players for youth national teams, top college programs and our local MLS first team. We are excited for this new chapter in our program’s history.”
