NPL/ECNL-RL Matchday #9

For many teams participating in NorCal Premier Soccer’s spring leagues, this weekend is the final round of action, meaning that it all comes down to this. While some still have matches the following weekend, several title and relegation races will be completed on Saturday or Sunday.

Here are your NPL/ECNL-RL games of the week:

U17 Girls ECNL-RL
5/11MVLA
1:00 p.m. @ Foothill College Soccer Field
San Juan SC
With nearly all the matches played in the U17 Girls ECNL-RL, there are somehow four teams still in contention for the title. Leading the way are San Juan SC, who have 24 points and will win the division with a win against fourth place MVLA (18 points). MVLA could claim the title if they win both of their last matches, improve their goal differential, and both IR Academy (23 points) and Folsom Lake Surf (22 points) fail to win their last match.
U17 Boys ECNL-RL
5/12Eastshore Alliance
10:30 a.m. @ El Cerrito High School
TSP FC
In a matchup between second place Eastshore Alliance and fourth place TSP FC, both sides are still clinging to their title hopes. Eastshore are currently on 24 points, three behind first place Los Gatos United, while TSP have 19 points but two games in hand. Should either team claim all three points this weekend, it will put the pressure on Los Gatos to close out their season with a victory.

U13 Girls ECNL-RL
5/12California Odyssey
3-2
Almaden FC
In a match that was essentially a title race, California Odyssey went back and forth with Almaden FC, but a late winner from Nayomee Brewer helped Odyssey claim the U13 Girls ECNL-RL title. While Almaden scored first, Alyssa Patino equalized in the 33rd minute before Bella Cuevas gave the Central Californians the lead in the 61st. Almaden then tied the match before Brewer's strike brought home the championship.
U14 Boys ECNL-RL
5/12San Ramon FC
1:00 p.m. @ San Ramon Sports Park
Solano Surf
In a relegation battle in the U14 Boys ECNL-RL, San Ramon FC are hoping to cling to their status in the top league and need at least a draw to do so. They're currently tied on points with De Anza Force, who have a slightly better goal differential, but will face sixth place Solano Surf this weekend to try to stay alive.
