U19 GIRLS STATE SEMIFINAL A
|
5/12 | FC Elk Grove Platinum | | 1-4 | | Palo Alto 99 Blue |
As the favorites for this State Cup title, Palo Alto SC made easy work of their semifinal, at least according to the scoreline. But a closer look will reveal how hard FC Elk Grove fought to claim their place in the final as the game remained scoreless until nearly halftime. Hailey Smith scored just before the break to give Palo Alto the advantage, only for FC Elk Grove’s Abigail McCann to equalize six minutes after halftime. But three second half goals from Sinet Siddiqi, Laura Fuentes, and Haley Chitwood put the game away for the favorites. |

U19 GIRLS STATE SEMIFINAL B
|
5/12 | Cal Thorns Academy 2 | | 3-1 | | Blues FC |
Playing in a lower division in NPL action, it appeared as if the California Thorns would be the underdog heading into their semifinal matchup against Blues FC. And with Aleah Treiterer scoring just 11 minutes into the game, it appeared as if the Thorns were out of it. But a second half brace from Carly Lowi and another goal from Sophia Sydir proved that league standings aren’t everything as the California Thorns advanced to the final at the expense of the Blues. |
