1-3
Atletico Santa Rosa
Just two minutes into the game, Atletico Santa Rosa’s Angelica Barragan Rivas found herself in on goal against the Merced Soccer Academy keeper and made no mistake with her finish. It was a sign of things to come as though Julianna Beltran pulled a goal back for Merced in the 28th minute, Rivas struck two more times in the second half to complete her hat trick and put Atletico into the semifinals.
U15 GIRLS STATE QUARTERFINAL B
4/28Ajax United Green
3-2
OV Toros Black
When striker Karlie Lema scored for OV Toros just 13 minutes into the game, it appeared as if Ajax United were going to have a long day ahead of them dealing with Lema. But an own goal and a strike from Ajax’s Genevieve Fontes in the next six minutes gave the underdogs a lead that they wouldn’t relinquish. Kayli Wilson added another goal in the 48th minute to give Ajax a cushion, one that they would need as Molly Newquist scored in the 67th minute. The Toros pushed for an equalizer, but it was all in vain as Ajax were able to secure the 3-2 victory.
U15 GIRLS STATE QUARTERFINAL C
4/28Pajaro Valley United
2-1
Folsom Lake Quakes
After a tense, but scoreless first half, the action in this Pajaro Valley - Folsom Lake Earthquakes matchup finally heated up in the 58th minute when Maria Ramirez-Ayala scored for Pajaro to break the deadlock. But Folsom Lake answered right back with a goal of their own from Kaylee Gillespie in the 62nd minute, only for Pajaro’s Jennifer Limon to win the game three minutes later.
U15 GIRLS STATE QUARTERFINAL D
4/28CCSA
2-1
SC Sporting Green
Andriana Hernandez scored an early goal to put Central California Soccer Alliance up against Santa Clara Sporting, and CCSA never looked back after that moment in defeating Santa Clara 2-1 on the day. Central California added another tally via a Sporting own goal just before halftime, which eventually proved to be the difference, despite a 50th minute strike from Olivia Corwin for Sporting.
