Division Winner

CCSA Black

Champions League Qualifiers

CCSA Black, Davis Legacy 99

ccsa-blackWith three teams coming into the final two matchdays of the season tied on points, and only two Champions League spots up for grabs, it was Central California Soccer Alliance and Davis Legacy Red who won the top spots with both going 2-0 over the weekend. The other team previously tied with Alliance and Legacy, Marin FC, dropped a 3-0 result to Placer United Saturday that proved the difference.

Davis Legacy 98

Champions League Qualifiers

Davis Legacy 98, Placer United 98

davis-19Davis Legacy 98 Red came into the weekend with the league title wrapped up, and concluded their Fall with a 1-1 draw against Palo Alto SC Green and 6-2 victory over Santa Clara Sporting. With first place already determined, there was still a second Champions League spot up for grabs. Placer United grabbed said spot by virtue of a 3-0 win over Diablo FC and a 3-2 win vs. Palo Alto, giving them a one point advantage over third-place Blues FC, who didn’t qualify despite also winning both of their games.

NPL 1 C

Division Winner

Mustang 98/99

Champions League Qualifiers

Mustang, West Coast, PSV Union, Force Blue

Only one of the four Champions League places was accounted for heading into the weekend, but the top four didn’t change in this division as Mustang 98/99 won both of their games to finish in first place. They’re joined in the Champions League by West Coast Soccer, PSV Union and De Anza Force, who each picked up exactly one victory during the showcase to qualify. With a chance to upset the pecking order, fifth-place Santa Clara Sporting could only manage draws against Pleasanton Rage and CV Crossfire Red to finish rooted in that spot.

NPL 2 EAST

Division Winner

MVLA

MVLA Leicester City may have only had a single fixture over the weekend, but they made the most of it, defeating California Odyssey SC by a 6-2 scoreline to claim the title and only NPL 1 spot out of this division. By virtue of the victory, second-place Walnut Creek Blue couldn’t change their fortunes as MVLA owned the tiebreaker between the pair, meaning that even if Walnut Creek had defeated East Bay United (they tied 0-0), MVLA still would have been champions. Walnut Creek did qualify for the NPL 2 though, alongside Odyssey, even though Odyssey lost both of their weekend matches.

NPL 2 WEST

Division Winner

Mustang 00/99

In one of the more straightforward divisions in action during the showcase, Mustang SC NPL Academy required just a point to qualify for the NPL 1 in a five-team division that sees places two-five qualify for the NPL 3. Mustang did more than enough, garnering a total of six points with victories over California Magic and the Santa Cruz Breakers to avoid any possible drama.
