NorCal Clubs Find Success at US Club Soccer’s National Events
With several different NorCal Premier Soccer champions at different levels participating in three different US Club national competitions, two of NorCal’s own were crowned as victors on the biggest stage over the past month, with a host of others also putting up impressive results.
In last week’s National Cup XVII Super Group, Central Valley Leon’s 03 boys and Vision Academy’s 02 girls were both crowned champions, while California Odyssey’s 02 boys finished as finalists.
West Coast Soccer’s 03 girls also one a title, taking home the Premier Group of the competition. Manteca FC’s 04 boys participated in the Super Group but failed to advance out of the group stage.
While all four NorCal Premier Soccer teams ultimately fell short in their quests to become national champions in the two other US Club Soccer competitions, all four showed well in the past few weeks in Colorado, once again showing that NorCal remains one of the top organizations in the country at producing top-level sides and talent.
Participating in the NPL National Championship for NorCal Premier were San Juan Spirits 04, Marin FC 02, and Marin FC 01, while Napa Soccer Academy 03 advanced all the way to the semifinals of the first-ever Elite National Premier League.
Three of the four squads making the semifinals of their respective tournaments, with San Juan, Napa Soccer Academy, and Marin FC 02 all falling via 2-1 scorelines in that stage of their competitions.
San Juan got to that point by topping Flight A with a 3-1-0 record, before falling to Seacoast United in the semifinals, while Marin FC 02 posted a matching 3-1-0 record before bowing out of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Napa Soccer Academy advanced to the semifinals thanks to defeating all their opponents via a 9-0 scoreline in the earlier stages. After being defeated in the semifinals, Napa went on to claim third place with a 2-1 victory over Phoenix Rising FC.
Lastly, Marin FC 01 put up a solid fight, but ultimately put up a 1-2-0 record in flight play and were eliminated before the knockout rounds of the tournament.
