LIGA NorCal Matchday No. 6

It’s nearly two months into the latest LIGA NorCal season, and the table is starting to take shape. Three undefeated sides remain, but with just four or five games played for most squads, each and every team needs just a few results to go their way to get back into contention for the biggest prize in adult soccer in Northern California: a league title. Here is your LIGA NorCal Game of the Week recap:

Santa Elena C.F. 1 – Club Marin 5

Goalscorers: Marin: Lezama (3), Grady, Bauer

Coming into a tough away match in first place, Club Marin looked to continue their perfect season against hosts Santa Elena C.F. this past weekend.

After a back-and-forth first 18 minutes, Alan Grady opened the scoring for Marin, hitting a one-time volley to break the deadlock.

Then Carlos Lezama seemingly took over the match on his own, scoring the next three goals, the final in the 52nd minute to essentially put the game away before Andreas Bauer made it 5-0 in the 70th minute.

Santa Elena were able to grab a late goal in the 75th minute, but by then it was too late as Club Marin left with all three points.
