LIGA NorCal Matchday No. 5

With most teams having played four of their 16 LIGA NorCal matches, the table is beginning to take shape in the latest season of adult soccer here in Northern California. Favorites are beginning to emerge, while a few teams are already behind the eight ball and will need all three points from one of the five matches on the slate for this weekend. Here is your LIGA NorCal Game of the Week recap:

Acoreano 4 – Davis Legacy 5

Goalscorers: Davis: Chongo (4), Duff

Acoreano: Figueroa, Borges, Anguiano, Cisneros

In one of the highest-scoring matches of the weekend, Acoreano were just edged out by visiting Davis Legacy, who put up five goals on the road, but gave up four of their own.

In the end, no one had an answer for the Legacy’s Kennedy Chongo, who scored four times and set up a Kody Duff goal as well.

Meanwhile, the hosts got goals from Eirc Figueroa, Daniel Borges, Herberto Anguiano, and Marco Cisneros but ultimately, it wasn’t enough.

“Acoreano never gave up and pushed us to the limit,” said Davis manager Mark Torguson. “It was lucky that today we had a goalscorer in such good form.”

Added Acoreano manager Tomas Zajfert: “It was a very competitive and offensively attractive game. Both teams fought hard, but fair…the team and I are very disappointed about this result and know that the mistakes we made decided the outcome…I think this game could have gone either way and unfortunately today it didn’t go ours.”
