NorCal, San Jose, and the DFB Team up for Coaching Symposium
The San Jose Earthquakes, NorCal Premier Soccer and the German Football Association (DFB), will host an international soccer coaching showcase at Stanford University from June 28-30.
In an effort to provide access to world-class soccer education, the Quakes, NorCal and the DFB will join forces in Northern California to provide a sustainable coaching education platform.
“The San Jose Earthquakes are proud to co-host this year’s international coaching showcase in conjunction
with NorCal Premier Soccer and the DFB,” said Earthquakes general manager Jesse Fioranelli. “We’re also
excited that it will take place on the same weekend as the California Clasico at prestigious Stanford
University.
“For the last year, it’s been a goal of ours to join forces with select partners to create an educational
platform for coaches here in Northern California. We want to create an inclusive and very hands-on
environment that can help all of us continue to raise the level of coaching and ultimately develop the next
generation of talented players.”
The curriculum is centered around engaging classroom sessions and practical on-field tutorials to enhance
recognition and understanding in various key areas. Educators from powerhouses such as Inter Milan, FC
Barcelona, S.L. Benfica, and Stanford University will be sharing their respective expertise alongside experts
from the Quakes and DFB.
“NorCal’s stated mission in coach education is that Better Coaches = Better Players, and we are delighted
to be able to partner with the DFB, Quakes and Stanford to grow our annual coaching symposium into this
outstanding opportunity for our coaches to learn from those at the top of youth, college and professional
soccer,” said NorCal Premier President Benjamin Ziemer.
Additionally, the showcase will be connected to the California Clasico festivities that weekend and all
participants will be given a ticket to the match. The California Clasico is an annual matchup between the
Earthquakes and rival LA Galaxy at Stanford Stadium that has drawn more than 50,000 fans annually since
2012.
Attendees will also be invited to a meet-and-greet with Earthquakes head coach Matias Almeyda the day
after the match.
