Three NorCal Premier Soccer Clubs Promoted to Boys ECNL
In the first year of a new partnership with the Boys ECNL, NorCal Premier Soccer would like to recognize the first three of its clubs who were promoted to the Boys ECNL for next year based off of their strong showings in both NPL and State Cup play this past year.
The three clubs promoted are: California Odyssey, Monterey County Soccer – ECFC Salinas, and San Jose Surf.
“Congratulations to the three NorCal Premier Soccer clubs securing promotion to the ECNL for the upcoming season,” said NorCal President Benjamin Ziemer. “It is refreshing to note and vital to point out that these clubs earned these spots through their hard work, on and off the field, with the consistent level of play of their individual players and teams.”
During the season, each club was given a different score for the results for each of their teams from the U14-U19 level that was then added up to determine which club overall performed the best and deserved promotion.
The process can be found here, but the final standings had California Odyssey on top with 48 points, Monterey County Soccer – ECFC Salinas in second with 45 points, and San Jose Surf in third with 37 points.
The top 10 clubs in the rankings this past year are as follows:
“We have already seen the impact of promotion and relegation, where the ability of clubs to move up or down based on the results of their work is serving as a motivating factor and is driving clubs forward and encouraging them to focus on the improvement of their planning, football training, and game day coaching,” Ziemer added. “I’d like to thank the ECNL leadership for being open to allowing the Northern California Boys ECNL division to utilize the idea of club promotion and relegation.”
