With just two matchdays left in the season, it’s make or break time for the U15-U19 State Cup participants. This weekend, the semifinals take place in Davis and Turlock, with each team still alive looking to continue their strong runs to earn a spot in the May 31 and June 1 finals.
Here are your games of the week:
U15 Boys State Division |
5/10 | East Bay United | | 8:00 a.m. @ Field 11 | | Folsom Lake Surf |
This early morning matchup pits two well-balanced sides against each other as East Bay United and Folsom Lake Surf both feature strong attacks with stout defenses. United have allowed just four goals in six State Cup games so far, while Folsom Lake Surf cruised through the group stages with 25 goals scored and just one allowed. Folsom are also competing for a double as they're currently in second place of the ECNL-RL after falling just short of winning a Futsal State Cup title this past winter. |
U17 Girls State Division |
5/10 | Rocklin FC | | 8:00 a.m. @ Field 9 | | California Odyssey |
Both Rocklin FC and California Odyssey have been extremely difficult to score on in the U17 Girls State Division, with Rocklin allowing just three goals in the knockout stages, while California have conceded just once in six total matches. This matchup could go down to the wire just like Odyssey's previous match, a penalty shootout victory over De Anza Force. Meanwhile, Rocklin FC are looking for trophies on multiple fronts as they're currently in second place of the U17 NPL 1. |
U15 Girls State Division |
5/10 | Folsom Lake Surf | | 11:50 a.m. @ Field 11 | | California Odyssey |
This semifinal matchup between Folsom Lake Surf and California Odyssey pits a strong defense against a free scoring attack as the two sides meet with a chance to make the final on the line. So far, Folsom have allowed just a single goal in the entirety of State Cup, and have managed to score 18 goals to boot. meanwhile, California Odyssey are averaging more than six goals per game and are hoping to make it back to the final after losing 4-3 in the title game last year. |
U19 Boys State Division |
5/10 | Richmond Sol | | 2:50 p.m. @ Field 10 | | Clovis Crossfire |
Since the new year began, Richmond Sol haven't lost a single game in either State Cup or NPL play. In the knockout competition, they've been nearly flawless, scoring 23 goals while allowing just three. However, their road to the title goes through a strong Clovis Crossfire side that won the State Division title two years ago, but failed to make it back to the final last year. |
