After taking a break for the holiday season, the U11-U13 NorCal State Cup returns this weekend as teams from all across the state prepare for the stretch run of the event.

In a competition that started all the way back in August with teams playing group stage matches, the teams in the State and Premier divisions are now down to the last 16.

This weekend will see the girls side play, with matches taking place at San Juan Soccer Club in Rancho Cordova, Fallon Sports Park in Dublin, and Alden E. Oliver Sports Park in Castro Valley.

Overall 5,257 games were played between 1656 different teams at 25 different locations, ahead of the tournament’s round of 16 and quarterfinal stages this weekend.

The following weekend, the boys will play in the same stages of the competition before the culmination of play comes on February 4 and 5 at Mary Grogan Park in Modesto.
