U11/U12 Girls State Cup Knockout Stages Begin This Weekend
After the boys opened the knockout stages of the U11/U12 NorCal State Cup State and Premier divisions last weekend, this Saturday and Sunday will see the girls side participate in the same rounds at two different locations in Northern California.
The action, which will take place at San Juan Soccer Complex in Rancho Cordova and Robertson Sports Park in Livermore, will see the top divisions in NorCal’s State Cup participate in round of 16 and quarterfinal matches.
Each team that wins two games this weekend will move onto Finals Weekend, scheduled for February 22 and 23 at San Juan and Bartholomew Sports Park in Elk Grove.
“We’re looking forward to another exciting and competitive weekend of play this Saturday and Sunday,” said NorCal U9-U12 State Cup Coordinator John Stoppelmann. “We’re expecting plenty of high-quality play and close games, providing our membership with the best setting for development as possible.”
The U11 and U12 State Cup started all the way back in the fall, with 921 teams competing to eventually make it to this stage.
While the Gold, Silver, and Bronze divisions have already wrapped up, there are still 33 championships on the line, including the coveted State Cup title that recognizes the top overall team in each age group.
Each finalist in this year’s NorCal State Cup State Division will earn a spot in the California Cup, an event that matches the top teams in NorCal against the best teams from SOCAL Soccer League. That event is scheduled for March 29 and 30 at Davis Legacy Soccer Complex.
