NorCal Matchday #7

As the calendar turns into October, the action is heating up in the NorCal Premier Soccer State Cup, the largest state cup competition in the country. For many teams this weekend, the group stage concludes, especially in the U9 and U10 divisions where teams will be fighting for bracket placement and seeding, with most matches kicking off on Sunday.

Here are your NorCal Premier Soccer games of the week:

U9 Girls State/Gold
10/5Davis Legacy
2:15 p.m. @ Davis Legacy Soccer Complex Field 1A
Greenhaven SC
Of the 60 teams in the U9 Girls State/Gold division, just four are 2-0 heading into the final group stage match of the fall. Two of those teams are Davis Legacy and Greenhaven SC, who meet this Saturday in Davis in a match that will decide who wins the group. Thanks to a superior goal differential, Davis can claim Group G with a win or tie, while Greenhaven needs an outright victory.
U9 Boys State/Premier
10/6Blues FC
8:00 a.m. @ William Jessup University Field 2
Sacramento United
A pair of 2-0 sides headline our matchups for the U9 Boys State/Premier division as Blues FC host Sacramento United this Sunday in a matchup that will determine the group winner. Both teams have been free scoring, combining to hit the back of the net 24 times in four matches. Blues FC come in with a slight advantage--their superior goal differential means that they just need a tie to come out victorious in Group D.
U10 Boys State/Premier
10/6CV Futbol Academy
9:00 a.m. @ Turlock Regional Sports Complex
Central Valley Premier
Defending champions CV Futbol Academy have gotten off to a hot start, winning both of their group stage matches thus far while failing to allow a goal. They'll be looking to make it three wins from three this weekend in a Central Valley derby, where they'll take on a Central Valley Premier team that needs all three points in order to have a chance at claiming third place in Group H.
U10 Girls State/Premier
10/6Santa Clara Sporting
2:00 p.m. @ Cabrillo Middle School
MVLA
Last year Santa Clara Sporting were this close to taking home the State Division title, falling to CV Futbol Academy in the final. However, they've rebounded well this year in their bid to return to the same stage, winning their first two games by a combined margin of 14 goals. In order to secure the top spot in Group K, they'll need a win or a tie against MVLA, who are 1-1 so far, but could win the group with a victory Sunday.
