After previewing and recapping the top league games all across the state for the last several years, NorCal Premier Soccer will now expand its matchday coverage to all competitions that it oversees. Each week, NorCal will pick a handful of matches to feature from several different competitions. As many kick off their State Cup campaigns this weekend, NorCal Matchday #4 will focus on games from the largest State Cup in the country.
Here are your NorCal Premier Soccer games of the week:
U14 Girls State/Premier |
9/15 | Mustang SC | | 8:40 a.m. @ Diablo Vista Park | | EC Revolution |
In a group featuring three teams after one dropped out, the U14 Girls State/Premier Group A will be a battle between three Bay Area sides for a coveted top-two finish. The action kicks off Sunday as Mustang SC host EC Revolution, while Pleasanton RAGE will take on the pair at a later date. While EC Revolution are defending State Cup finalists, each side will be looking to prove that they're one of the top U14 Girls squads in the state. |
U11 Girls State/Premier |
9/15 | EC Revolution | | 9:30 a.m. @ Holly Creek 2 | | Mustang SC |
Two time defending State Cup champions Mustang SC begin their quest for a three straight titles Sunday when they travel to Bay Area rivals EC Revolution Sunday morning. Perhaps no team was as successful at the 7v7 level as Mustang, making their first 9v9 State Cup matchup exciting while Revolution will look to get their own campaign started on a positive note. |
U16 Boys State/Premier |
9/15 | Turlock Academica Jrs | | 12:00 p.m. @ Academica Soccer Fields | | Modesto Ajax United |
Turlock Academica Jrs played the entire State Cup campaign last year with a chip on their shoulder, having lost in the final two years prior. In June, they made up for the loss, lifting the trophy after winning all seven of their contests while scoring 32 goals and allowing just five. They'll host Modesto Ajax United Sunday in a Central California derby to kick off what Turlock hopes will be three straight final appearances. |
U12 Girls State/Premier |
9/15 | Modesto Ajax United | | 2:00 p.m. @ Mary Grogan Soccer Complex | | San Juan SC |
San Juan SC just missed out on winning three straight State Cup titles last year, falling in the final on kicks from the mark. They'll look to continue their quest for three championships in four years Sunday when they travel down south to take on Modesto Ajax United, who are always a tough opponent in State Cup. San Juan currently sit atop the table with three points after defeating Manteca FC 4-1 in August. |
U17 Girls State/Premier |
9/15 | Central California Soccer Alliance | | 3:00 p.m. @ Kingsburg High School | | California Odyssey |
Another Central California derby sees Central California Soccer Alliance host California Odyssey Sunday as both teams kick off their quests for glory. Last year, California Odyssey won the NPL title and made it all the way to the State Cup semifinals. They'll hope to begin their State Cup journey with all three points, while CCSA will hope to play the spoiler. |
U19 Boys State/Premier |
9/15 | Woodland SC | | 3:35 p.m. @ Woodland Sports Park | | Sierra Surf |
Last year Sierra Surf became the first Nevada based team to win NorCal Premier Soccer's State Cup, doing so in style by winning all seven games. They followed that up with a run to the National Cup semifinals later that summer and will look to build on that momentum as they kick off their campaign Sunday. Meanwhile, Woodland SC are always a tough opponent and should have a chance of posting an upset. |
U14 Boys State/Premier |
9/15 | SF United FC | | 5:00 p.m. @ Beach Chalet #3 | | Sentinels SC |
Our final featured match of the weekend is another Bay Area derby as SF United FC take on Sentinels SC. SF United had a stellar season last year, winning the ECNL-RL title and will look to continue their success when they take on their rivals from Morgan Hill Sunday at the famous Beach Chalet fields. |
