This past weekend at Davis Legacy Soccer Complex, 118 teams met to participate in the NPL Qualification Event, in which roughly one-fourth would find a pathway into next year’s high level NorCal Premier Soccer National Premier League.

Over the course of two days, teams from the U14-U19 age groups battled to earn an alternate pathway into the NPL, and at the end of the event, 30 total teams earned their status for the upcoming season.

“This event is a way to determine deserving teams to participate in our highest level of play in league competitions,” said NPL Director Kelcey Chaidez. “It’s a way to make sure that our NPL features the strongest sides from all across the state.”

At the event, teams were divided into groups of four, playing in a round robin format in which many of the group winners earned qualification.

Overall 19 boys teams and 11 girls teams did just that, with 25 different clubs seeing teams ensure their NPL status for the 2023-24 season.

Of the 25, Albion SC Central Valley, Association Football Club, Davis Legacy, Elk Grove United, and Sacramento United each led the way with two teams.

The other clubs to have teams qualify were Blues FC, Central Valley Premier, El Dorado Hills Soccer Club, Folsom Lake Surf, Los Gatos United, Madera United, Pajaro Valley United, Placer United, Pleasanton RAGE, Richmond Sol, Rocklin FC, San Francisco Aftershocks, San Jose Surf, San Mateo County FC, Silicon Valley Eagles, Sonoma County Premier, South Valley United, Stockton Storm, Stockton TLJ, and Tahuichi FC.
