NPL Weekly: April 6-7 Recap
With just over a month remaining in the season, NPL teams need points now as much as ever as a full slate of action took place this past weekend. In a goal-filled fixture list, several teams jumped back into title races while others bowed out ahead of the culmination of league play: next month’s NPL College Showcase in Davis.

NPL MATCHDAY — U15 Girls Champions League
Marin FC 1 – MVLA 1
Goals: Marin: Summers
MVLA: Steadman
With two sides near the top of the table meeting, Marin FC and MVLA played to a 1-1 draw this past weekend. The hosts were everywhere in the opening part of the game and were finally rewarded for their constant pressure early when Lauren Summers redirected a corner kick into the back of the net to put Marin up 1-0. And though they held that lead at the break, MVLA’s Mia Steadman equalized the score just after halftime with a long-range strike that ensured that the teams would share the points.

U14 Boys Champions League
Davis Legacy 4 – FC Sporting Munich 4
Goalscorers: Davis: Vaca-Lorenzi, Gonzalez, Yang, Medlin
Sporting: Moreno, Oregel, Alvarenga, Martinez
In one of the wildest games of the weekend Davis Legacy led FC Sporting Munich 3-1 early in the second half thanks to goals from Simon Vaca-Lorenzi, Noel Gutierrez Gonzalez, and Andrew Yang. But thanks to a 47th minute goal from Fabian Moreno, Sporting were still in it and came back to lead 4-3 through Diego Collazo Oregel, Alejandro Alvarenga, and Julio Manzo Martinez. Still, the hosts fought hard and were rewarded with a late goal from Braydon Medlin, giving each team one point for their efforts.
U17 Girls NPL 1
West Coast Soccer 1 – Players North 1
Goals: West Coast: Del Prado
Players North: West
Coming into this game having not dropped points all season, Players North traveled to West Coast Soccer to attempt to make it a perfect 9-0. And though North took the lead after Taya West poked home a ball in a scrum, West Coast clawed back, scoring through Maddie Del Prado, who took a cross from Jaden Hall and made no mistake to give both squads a share of the points.

Tahuichi FC 1 – Santa Rosa United 2
Goals: Santa Rosa: Ponte, Dimauro
Tahuichi: Espinoza
In this North Bay derby, visitors Santa Rosa United took an early lead over Tahuichi FC after Drayden Ponte finished off a 10-pass sequence. But Dominic Espinoza pulled things level for Tahuichi early in the second half, only for Ponte to cement his man-of-the-match status by setting up Gianluca Dimauro’s late winner.
