NPL Matchday #2 Recap
After a quality opening weekend that featured several tight battles, the National Premier League returns this weekend for matchday #2. It’s early, but teams from all across the state are already in need of results as the NPL can be unforgiving — points are always at a premium in this league.
Here are your NPL games of the week:
U14 Girls ECNL Regional League
Santa Clara Sporting 0 – Walnut Creek Surf 2
Goalscorers:

In a battle between the second and third-place teams in the U14 Girls ECNL Regional League, Walnut Creek Surf went on the road to defeat Bay Area rivals Santa Clara Sporting via a 2-0 scoreline. The win helped Walnut Creek make up some ground on first-place Stanislaus United and came thanks to a pair of first half goals. U19 Boys Champions League
FC Bay Area Surf 3 – Atletico Santa Rosa 6
Coming into this crucial U19 Boys Champions League match, FC Bay Area Surf currently top the table with seven points from three games. However, Surf have played at least one more game than everyone else in the division, including visitors Atletico Santa Rosa, who have four points from two games. FC Bay Area have the edge with their defensive record after allowing just two goals so far, while Atletico top the division with six goals scored.
U15 Boys Champions League
San Francisco Elite Academy 1 – Los Gatos United 1
Both San Francisco Elite Academy and Los Gatos United head into this weekend’s Bay Area clash with three points, sitting four behind league leaders Clovis Crossfire. But while Los Gatos have already dropped a result to Clovis, San Francisco Elite have played just one match so far: a 2-0 victory over East Bay United. A win for either club could see them finish the weekend just a solitary point behind the Central Californian table toppers.
U19 Girls ECNL Regional League
MVLA 4 – San Francisco Elite Academy 0
Goalscorers:
MVLA: Konidaris, Padden, Ratcliffe, Aguinaga
MVLA continued their perfect run of form in the U19 Girls ECNL Regional league, besting a solid San Francisco Elite Academy side 4-0 to move to ensure that they’d finish the weekend with six points from just two total games. The hosts spread the wealth all game, with Nina Konidaris scoring just six minutes into it before Lindsay Padden added a second nine minutes later. Chloe Ratcliffe converted a penalty early in the second half to put the game out of reach before Sydney Aguinaga iced the game with just one minute to play.
