Fresh off promotion to the Boys ECNL after strong NPL play, the three NorCal clubs to earn this honor are featured in our matchups during NPL Matchday #2. Meanwhile, on the girls side, the ECNL-RL rages on, with several solid games all throughout the state expected for this weekend.

U17 Boys NPL Champions League

Association Football Club 2 – 1974 Newark FC 1

Goalscorers:

AFC: Fudolfsen, Saldanha

Newark: Gill

This Friday night contest between Association Football Club and 1974 Newark FC started with the visitors scoring first as Oliver Gill hit the back of the net right around halftime to give Newark a 1-0 lead. But AFC would fight back, scoring through Nicolai Rudolfsen in the 65th minute before Axel Saldanha claimed the winner just a minute from full time.

U16 Boys NPL Champions League

SF Elite Academy – Sunnyvale Alliance

Saturday, 4/1 8:30 a.m. @ Margaret Hayward James Lang Fields #2

The third Boys ECNL promoted club, San Francisco Elite Academy, opened up their U16 Boys NPL Champions League season two weeks ago with a 2-1 away win against Monterey County Surf. SF Elite are now three points off of the table lead with a game in hand, while Sunnyvale Alliance lost their first game of the season and will look to earn their first points of the campaign in San Francisco Saturday.

U16 Girls ECNL-RL

IR Academy – Walnut Creek Surf

Saturday, 4/1 10:15 a.m. @ Bartholomew Sports Park – BSP 4

Both IR Academy and Walnut Creek Surf are looking for their first points in the U16 Girls ECNL-RL and will face off Saturday morning in the hopes of climbing up the table. Each trail first-place California Odyssey by six points after the Central Californian side won both of their first two games to start the season.

U15 Girls ECNL-RL

North Coast Futbol Club – Stanislaus United

Sunday, 4/2 4:30 p.m. @ Petaluma Community Sports Fields/East Washington Fields PCSF #2

After one full matchday, North Coast Futbol Club and Stanislaus United are part of a four way tie for first in the U15 Girls ECNL-RL standings. While North Coast and two other teams each carved out tough one-goal victories to begin the season, Stanislaus United cruised to a 4-0 victory against Mustang SC, putting them in first on goal differential. Whether they remain there after this weekend will come down to how North Coast plays when they host Stanislaus Sunday afternoon.
