NPL Matchday #12
While the National Premier League season is now complete for the U16-U19 boys divisions that will play at this weekend’s NorCal College Showcase, there’s still plenty to play for the girls and the younger boys age groups. For many in NorCal Premier Soccer, this weekend marks the end of the fall season and there are still a few titles up for grabs in the NPL.
Here are your NPL games of the week:
U19 Girls NPL South
Manteca Futbol Club – Albion SC Merced
Saturday, 11/12 11:00 a.m. @ Woodward Park – Field #3
Hosts Manteca Futbol Club head into the weekend with a three point lead over Albion SC Merced, who have played one fewer game than the current top-of-the-table side. With a win, Manteca will claim the U19 Girls NPL South title, but a draw will do as well as Manteca would then prevail in the head-to-head tiebreaker thanks to a season-opening 5-1 victory. Should Albion win, they will need either a point Sunday against California Odyssey to become champions. However, if the visitors win by more than four goals, the Odyssey result will be rendered moot.
U14 Boys NPL South
South Valley Chivas – South Valley United
Saturday, 11/12 2:00 p.m. @ Riverway Sports Park – Field 5
Thanks to a perfect 7-0-0 record, South Valley Chivas have already claimed the U14 Boys NPL South title, scoring an impressive 53 goals to do so in style. However, rivals South Valley United stand in the way of Chivas’ perfect season and will look to avenge a 7-0 defeat last month in the same fixture.
U15 Boys NPL South
Turlock Academica Jrs – Central Valley Premier
Saturday, 11/12 3:00 p.m. @ Academica Soccer Fields – Field A
U15 Boys NPL South champions Turlock Academica Jrs will look to cap off their season in style this weekend when they host regional rivals Central Valley Premier Saturday at Academica Soccer Fields. The two sides met last weekend, with Turlock coming out on top thanks to a 3-0 victory that put them on 18 points for the year. The visitors currently sit in third place in the table with 13 points but will finish second with a victory in Turlock.
U17 Girls NPL North
PSV Union – Burlingame Soccer Club
Sunday, 11/13 6:15 p.m. @ Mayfield Soccer Complex – South
In the 13 U17 Girls NPL North games PSV Union and Burlingame Soccer Club have combined to play in this fall, the two sides have dropped points just one time. The pair, along with San Carlos United, are part of a top three that have dominated the rest of the competition and remain in contention for the title heading into the final weekend of play. Burlingame have amassed 18 points, while the other two have 19 points with one additional game played. The visitors for this match also face a tough test Saturday night when they host San Carlos and should Burlingame win that match, they’ll need just a point against PSV to capture the title. If San Carlos win, Burlingame can’t win the league, but can prevent PSV from doing so. Anything can happen this weekend as all three teams control their own destiny in a division guaranteed to go down to the wire.
