NPL/ECNL-RL Matchday #5

It’s been more than a month since spring league play started in NorCal Premier Soccer and title races are beginning to unfold in front of our eyes. As always, three points are at a premium, especially for the teams involved in NorCal’s NPL and ECNL-RL competitions.

Here are your NPL/ECNL-RL games of the week:

U13 Boys ECNL-RL
4/13Folsom Lake Surf
0-1
South Valley United
Folsom Lake Surf battled until the end but dropped points for the first time in the season when South Valley United scored a late winner in a 1-0 road victory. Christian Lira was the hero on the day, hitting the back of the net in the 61st minute to improve South Valley's title odds.

U13 Girls ECNL-RL
4/13Folsom Lake Surf
0-2
Almaden FC
Almaden FC extended their win streak in the U13 Girls ECNL-RL to four games to start the season this past Saturday when they traveled to play Folsom Lake Surf. The visitors won via a 2-0 scoreline thanks to an early goal from Audrey Wong and a late goal from Paige Troung.
U16 Boys ECNL-RL
4/13Stanford Strikers
6:00 p.m. @ Mayfield Soccer Complex
SF United FC
Both Stanford Strikers and SF United FC are still in the U16 Boys ECNL-RL title race, but will likely need all three points this weekend to catch either De Anza Force or Turlock Academica Jrs. Strikers and United played once earlier in the season, a game that ended in a 1-1 draw.

U14 Girls ECNL-RL
4/14Revolution FC
2-0
Santa Clara Sporting
EC Revolution were able to collect all three points this past Sunday thanks to a 2-0 win over Bay Area rivals Santa Clara Sporting. The winning goal came via a free kick, and Revolution were able to then add another strike to give themselves some breathing room to see out the game.
