It’s now April, which means that we’re in the thick of things as far as the NorCal Premier Soccer spring leagues go. As always, points are vital for teams to begin to build towards a title race, help stave off relegation, or simply maintain their status in NorCal’s merit based system of play.
Here are your NPL/ECNL-RL games of the week:
U17 Girls ECNL-RL |
4/6 | IR Academy | | 8:45 a.m. @ Bartholomew Sports Park | | Folsom Lake Surf |
This weekend's games of the week start off with a matchup between first and second place in the U17 Girls ECNL-RL. Just one point separate hosts IR Academy and visitors Folsom Lake Surf. Expect this contest to be close as IR were able to narrowly edge Surf back in October via a 1-0 scoreline. |
U19 Boys ECNL-RL |
4/6 | El Dorado Hills SC | | 2:30 p.m. @ Oak Ridge High School | | De Anza Force |
After a slow start to the season, El Dorado Hills SC have been on fire as of late, winning their last four league matches to move into third place in the U19 Boys ECNL-RL. Just one place above them are De Anza Force, who trail first place Elk Grove Soccer by just three points and beat EDHSC earlier in the season, but not during the run of form this weekend's hosts are currently on. |
U15 Boys ECNL-RL |
4/6 | Burlingame SC | | 6:40 p.m. @ Murray/Burlingame Sports Complex | | Almaden FC |
With both Burlingame SC and Almaden FC hunting for a spot in the regional playoffs, and Almaden maybe still holding dreams of a title alive, this weekend's matchup is a true six pointer. Almaden currently stand in third place, but one of their two losses on the season came back in the fall at home when Burlingame pulled out a 1-0 victory. |
U19 Girls ECNL-RL |
4/7 | Blackhawks SC | | 12:00 p.m. @ Cosumnes River College Field 2A | | West Coast Soccer |
With four teams within one point of each other at the top of the U19 Girls ECNL-RL table, there's a lot to be decided still in this title race. Perhaps the matchup of the weekend goes to Blackhawks SC's game against West Coast Soccer. Blackhawks, who play on Saturday as well, sit one point behind West Coast, but have two games in hand. When the pair of sides last played each other, West Coast came out with a 2-0 victory. |
