NPL/ECNL-RL Matchday #2

All across Northern California, the league season in the NPL and ECNL-RL kicked off last weekend with an incredible slate of matches featuring NorCal’s top players and teams. With one matchday in the books, it’s already time for matchday #2 this weekend as teams will fight for those valuable three points early on in league play.

Here are your NPL/ECNL-RL games of the week:

U17 Boys ECNL-RL

TSP FC – East Bay United

Saturday, 8/26 10:00 a.m. @ Turlock Sports Park Field 3

Both TSP FC and East Bay United kicked off their seasons last weekend, with their results falling on opposite sides of the spectrum. The Turlock-based club were free scoring in a 4-1 victory over Eastshore Alliance, while EBU fell via a 1-0 scoreline at home to Los Gatos United. A win for TSP will put them at the top of the table, while should East Bay come out victories, they’ll draw level with their Saturday opponents.

U17 Girls ECNL-RL

California Odyssey – MVLA

Saturday, 8/26 12:00 p.m. @ Mickey Cox Elementary

Two games in the U17 Girls ECNL-RL last weekend produced just one winner: California Odyssey, who sit atop the table thanks to a 2-1 win over California Magic. The always tough MVLA have yet to play a game, but will draw level with Odyssey should they head down to Central California and claim a victory this Saturday.

U16 Girls ECNL-RL

San Francisco Vikings – Burlingame SC

Saturday, 8/26 5:00 p.m. @ Beach Chalet #2

The San Francisco Vikings opened up their season last weekend by drawing Santa Clara Sporting on the road and they’ll now return home for yet another Bay Area derby when they host Burlingame SC Saturday night at Beach Chalet. Burlingame SC have yet to play a game but will want to earn some points and draw closer to Stanislaus United, who sit atop the U16 Girls ECNL-RL table with six points from two games.

U16 Boys NPL 1

FC Bay Area Surf – Woodside SC

Sunday, 8/27 10:20 a.m. @ Vista Montana Sports Field – 11 v 11

So far in the U16 Boys NPL 1, there has been just one match played: a 5-0 loss for Woodside SC against Clovis Crossfire. With more than a week to recover from the game, Woodside SC will hope to get back into the thick of things when they travel to FC Bay Area Surf for a Sunday morning contest.
