NorCal Announces New NPL Clubs
While more than 250 clubs compete in NorCal Premier Soccer’s leagues every year, only a select few are granted NPL Club status, ensuring that their top teams from each age group are automatically entered into the National Premier League.
And while many retain their designation as an NPL Club for a sustained period of time, only a few new clubs each year are determined to meet the standards of this designation.
NorCal is proud to announce the additions of two new NPL Clubs for the 2022-2023 season: Los Gatos United and San Francisco United.
Meanwhile, 1974 Newark FC, California Magic SC, and Napa United were granted NPL Club status on the girls side, while Clovis Crossfire, San Francisco Seals, San Mateo County FC, Spurs FC, and Woodside SC can now call themselves an “NPL Club” on the boys side.
Finally, Blues FC and Burlingame SC have shed the “provisional” label as NPL Clubs on the boys side.
“We are very excited to be adding these NPL Clubs for the 2022-2023 season,” said NPL Director Kelcey Chaidez. “These clubs have all shown commitment to NorCal Premier Soccer and uphold high competitive, organizational, and technical standards. Each club will be a welcome addition to the NorCal NPL.”
In order to earn their spot as an NPL Club, each of those selected had to meet a rigorous set of criteria that included succeeding in the following areas:
- Club leadership
- Quality of technical program
- Player pool
- Football environment – training and game
- Competitiveness – results vs. competitiveness
