37 NorCal Teams Qualify for ECNL-RL/NPL Postseason Play
While most of Northern California finished their league seasons this past weekend, for some there’s still more to play for as the NPL Finals and ECNL-RL West Championships kick off next month for various qualifying teams from NorCal Premier Soccer.
Overall 27 different girls teams and 10 boys teams qualified for these postseason competitions based on their final league standing in the ECNL-RL for the girls and the NPL Champions League for the boys.
On the girls side, between two and four teams from each age group in the ECNL-RL qualified for the ECNL-RL West Championship, and the two teams directly below them earned spots in the NPL Finals. The top two boys teams in the NPL Champions League, meanwhile, will be rewarded with trips to the US Club Soccer NPL Finals.
The ECNL-RL West Championship is set to take place from June 16-18 at SilverLakes Complex in Norco, California, and will include teams from the NorCal, Northwest, and Southwest ECNL Regional Leagues.
The NPL Finals will kick off slightly later, with the action taking place at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park in Denver, Colorado from July 6-10 for the girls and July 6-12 for the boys.
Twenty-nine different clubs qualified for the two different competitions with Association Football Club and Walnut Creek Surf both leading the way with three different sides earning a spot. Diablo Valley Wolves, MVLA, Santa Clara Sporting, and Stanislaus United each also had qualified teams.
