2021 NorCal College Showcase Preview
We’ve missed you all — everyone has. It’s been a rough time for the world for a while, but as society begins to open up again safely, NorCal Premier Soccer’s College Showcase is finally back for the first time in nearly two years. This weekend, hundreds of teams from all across the state will meet up for one of the competitions that has defined youth soccer in Northern California. More than 100 college soccer scouts from all levels will be in person for the event. It’s an opening for the region, but an opportunity for everyone in attendance.
Schedules and Results
200 games in the 03/04, 05 and 06 age groups are scheduled to be played at the NorCal College Showcase. Each team will play one, full-time game per day.
College Coaches Attending
Close to 150 college scouts from Division 1, 2, 3, NAIA and JC are registered to attend.
Featured Matches
U17 Girls – California Odyssey vs MVLA, Saturday, 11:40 AM @ DLSC #6
When the 2005 Girls Champions League shut down due to the pandemic, MVLA held a three point lead at the top of the table with 26 points from just 11 games. By that point, the Bay Area side had already hit the back of the net 35 times, five more than anyone else in the division. But MVLA weren’t close to closing out the title yet thanks to the strength of the California Odyssey. The Central California club stood just five points back in the standings but had played two fewer games and allowed a league low six goals.
U19 Boys – DV Wolves 03 vs San Juan Lightning 04, Saturday, 12:00 PM @ DLSC #2
The last time San Juan SC played in the NPL, they finished mid-table, but that was all the way back in 2019. More recently, the club placed first in the ECNL’s U17 North Cal conference. Meanwhile, the Diablo Valley Wolves spent most of this year dominating the NorCal Premier Soccer’s Return to Play event. The Wolves won all four of the games that they contested, scoring 11 goals while allowing just three.
U19 Girls – Placer United vs Marin FC, Saturday, 1:40 PM @ DLSC #5
One of the best sides in the Champions League the last time it was played, Marin FC finished just four points behind the top-ranked Clovis Crossfire back in 2019. In 13 games, Marin lost just once while averaging exactly two goals a game scored and fewer than one goal per game allowed. Their opponents are Placer United, making their return to NPL competition after spending three years in the DA, one of which ended in a national semifinals appearance.
U19 Boys – Davis Legacy 04 vs MCS ECFC Salinas United 04, Sunday, 11:40 AM @ DLSC #5
Had there been a boys Champions League in the 2019-20 season, Davis Legacy would have been one of the favorites to contest for the title. Davis finished three points off the mark in the fall NPL 1 East by garnering 18 points from eight games, none of which were losses. Meanwhile, MCS ECFC Salinas United did lose a single match but still topped the NPL 1 West with 24 points from nine games that included eight wins.
