This year’s NorCal NPL season format has been slightly modified due to the high school soccer season now aligning throughout Northern California.

In the Fall, teams are placed in NPL 1 and NPL 2 divisions which are further separated by geography. Based on NPL Fall League performance, teams qualify for Champions League, NPL 1, NPL 2, or NPL 3 for the Spring season. The winner of each age groups Champions League division in the Spring will be the 2016-17 NorCal NPL Champions and qualify for the 2017 NPL National Finals. U14-U17 teams in the Champions League, NPL 1, and NPL 2 will auto-qualify for the 2017-18 NorCal NPL. The NPL 3 will consist of auto-qualifier spots for the 2017-18 NorCal NPL, an NPL/State Premier playoff spot, and a relegation zone.
