Boys Fall College Showcase to Take Place This Weekend in Davis

UPDATE – this weekend’s event is still on, but with an adjusted schedule. There is a major storm working it’s way through Northern California—while this has mostly missed Davis so far, there is significant rain in the forecast for today and tomorrow, which we expect to impact field quality. As such, we will be adjusting the schedule for Saturday’s Showcase games to reduce the number of games—here’s the new schedule (published 11/21).

Following the success of last weekend’s Girls Showcase, NorCal will host the Boys College Showcase this weekend—November 23 & 24—at Davis Legacy Soccer Complex.

Over the course of two days, hundreds U16-U19 teams from NorCal’s ECNL-RL and NPL, as well as ECNL, MLS Next, and other top teams from the western region, will compete in a series of games in front of nearly 70 college coaches looking for their next stars.

“The NorCal College Showcase is the premier event in the area for players to showcase themselves in front of college coaches,” said NorCal NPL Commissioner Kelcey Chaidez. “Not only are the games competitive, but the level of play is high, and each year we have players scouted who make the next move in their soccer careers.”

“This year we’re also excited to include ECNL and MLS Next teams, as well as a few others from outside the area, into the fold, making sure that the best level of talent is on show,” Chaidez added. “This event will be a true celebration of soccer at the highest level and one that’s incredibly important for all of those participating.”

ATTENDING COLLEGES

The roughly 70 college coaches scheduled to attend represent universities from all NCAA levels, as well as junior colleges and NAIA schools. Coaches from 10 different states will be on hand—a full list can be found here.

ALL-STAR GAME

In addition to the regular club games that each team will play, NorCal is again hosting an All-Star Game Saturday night, with selections of players made from the Valley and Bay regions facing off against each other. One half of the game will contain players who are in their senior year of high school, while the other will be made of of juniors.

The full All-Star squads and an interview with each coach taking the helm of those teams can be found here.

LIVE STREAMING

If you can’t make the event in-person, select games on Fields 4 & 7 over the course of the weekend will be live-streamed to NorCal’s YouTube channel: @NorCalPremiersoccer8655. The full streaming schedule can be found here.

NORCAL + PROJECT 51O

Additionally, the showcase will host another high level match: the first round of the UPSL NorCal South playoffs where Project 51O, the Oakland Roots’ reserve team, will face off at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday against a to be announced opponent.

Featuring several players who played youth soccer in NorCal’s leagues, this game will show those on hand what their pathway to professional soccer could look like should they continue playing the game at a high level.

“The relationship between our club, especially our development side Project 51O, and NorCal Premier is one we are very proud of,” said Oakland Roots and Soul SC Technical Director Jordan Ferrell. “For Project 51O to be the feature game of the NorCal Showcase, an event that brings together many of the best coaches and players in Northern California, is something we are honored to be a part of.”
